Grimsby scaffolder dies working at West Burton power station in Nottinghamshire 02/10/10

A 43-YEAR-old scaffolder from Grimsby has died while working at West Burton Power Stationnear Worksop.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police confirmed contractor Mark Duffield collapsed at the EDF Energy-owned plant at 6.45am yesterday.

He was taken to Bassetlaw General Hospital, Worksop.

However, he died of natural causes. His family has been informed.

A spokesman for EDF said Mr Duffield was a sub-contractor with the South Killingholme branch of American- owned firm Harsco.

He said: “The workforce involved in that area was sent home as a sign of respect. Our sympathies go out to his family and his colleagues.”

A spokesman for the Health And Safety Executive said it was not aware of the incident.
