An exciting opportunity has become available for a full-time Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team at our Head Office in Chelmsford, Essex. If you are enthusiastic, self-motivated and looking for an employer that wants to see you achieve your potential, we would love to meet you.

Responsibilities
Reporting to Commercial Manager
- In conjunction with the relevant Operations / Management team, be accountable for the profitability of the projects, and help develop an appropriate commercial strategy to ensure delivery of required margins
- Contribute to the management of our cost reporting system, ensuring all financial information is up-to-date, tracked and adaptions are included
- Attend relevant client and design team meetings
- Produce detailed valuations concisely and on time, including budgetary valuations and projected future costs which will involve regular communication with the Client
- Management of all record keeping from site including site photographs and site diaries
- Delivery of client monthly accounts in line with agreed expectations
- Timely agreement of final accounts
- Prepare claims documentation where necessary
- Be responsive to the activities of junior members of the team, providing mentoring, advice and guidance as required
- Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with standard company SHEQ procedures and work instructions
Skills & Experience Required
Knowledge:
- Previous experience as QS minimum 3years, preferably within the scaffold industry
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/ Excel and general IT
- Excellent working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of Contract
- Ability to apply the knowledge and principles of commercial management to a scaffolding business

- Excellent negotiator and communicator (both orally and written) and good presentation of themselves, their department, company and its services
- Organised, effective time manager, with the ability to work under pressure and manage a variety of tasks whilst delivering work on time and of a consistently high standard
- Trustworthy and able to deal appropriately with confidential and sensitive information
- Able to work independently on own initiative as well as pro-actively as part of a team
- Flexible with regard to working across all areas of the business and hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position
- Willingness to learn new skills and embark on ongoing training to develop current skills
- Good working knowledge of standard forms of measurement, SMM7 and CESMM3
- Full driving licence
- Excellent analytical and numeracy skills
