Orwell Housing Association has awarded two scaffolding contracts with a combined published value of £330,000 excluding VAT to support repairs, maintenance and building safety work in the East of England.

Apex Scaffolding Anglia Ltd and S P Scaffolding (East Anglia) Limited have each secured an agreement valued at £165,000 excluding VAT, according to contract details notices published on the government’s Find a Tender service on 13 October.

Both contracts are due to start on 4 January 2027 and run until 3 January 2029. Orwell can extend each agreement by a further 12 months, taking the potential end date to 3 January 2030.

Housing repairs and maintenance

The work covers scaffolding and associated services for responsive repairs, work on empty properties, planned maintenance and refurbishment. It also supports compliance programmes, building safety works and other property-related activities.

The Apex contract notice records a signing date of 6 October 2026. The contractor is based in Lowestoft. The separate S P Scaffolding notice records a signing date of 5 October and lists the company’s address in Colchester.

Both awards were made below the procurement threshold and without competition. The notices confirm completed contract awards, with no invitation for further bids.

Service standards

Orwell has listed performance measures for both agreements covering customer satisfaction, appointments made and kept, jobs completed within target times, and the number of complaints.

The £330,000 total is the sum of the two published contract values. The notices do not establish a guaranteed level of expenditure or clarify whether those values include the optional extension periods.
