Rodells, a Hertfordshire-based scaffolding contractor with a history stretching back more than 125 years, has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, according to the Construction Enquirer.
The company, which was founded in 1898 by Leonard Rodell as a steeple-jacking business, has grown into a major scaffolding operation, running services from its London Colney yard for large commercial and industrial projects across the UK. It also operates a specialist access works division in St Albans.
The latest accounts for the year ending 31 March 2024 show Rodells employed 56 staff.
The notice of intention gives the firm temporary protection from creditors while administrators assess the next steps. Further details on the reasons behind the move or the future of the business have yet to be confirmed.
