SGB Group

SGB Group is a long-established British scaffolding and access services company with roots dating back to the 1920s, making it one of the oldest and most recognised names in the UK scaffolding industry. The company is widely known as the originator of the Cuplok scaffolding system, which became one of the most widely adopted proprietary scaffold systems in the world. SGB operated for many decades as an independent British company before passing through several ownership structures; it is now part of the Harsco Corporation’s industrial services division in some regions, and in others has been integrated into BrandSafway following that company’s formation in 2017.

SGB’s legacy brands and scaffold systems remain widely used across the UK and internationally.

SGB’s best-known product is the Cuplok system scaffold, a cup-and-blade connection scaffolding system that has been in widespread use across the construction, industrial, and maintenance sectors for decades. The system’s simplicity, versatility, and load-bearing capability made it a dominant choice for British contractors, and it remains in extensive use today across a wide range of applications.

SGB also developed the Kwikstage system scaffold, widely used in Australia and other markets, and the Ringscaff ring-lock system. The SGB brand retains a strong identity in the UK access and scaffolding industry, reflecting its pioneering role in developing proprietary system scaffolding that transformed the sector through the latter half of the twentieth century.
