Description

As the Projects Manager, you will take full ownership of the smooth running of all Project sites under contract with the business.  Ensuring that contract deadlines are met timeously and adhering to all health and safety requirements.

Working closely with your peers and the Managing Director, this role holds pivotal responsibility for delivering against the scope of works and labour requirements.  You will be actively involved with recruitment and be a mentor to your team, by supporting their continuous learning and development.

Reports to: Senior Projects Manager

Direct Reports: 20 to 30

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced Projects/Contract Manager, having prior construction sector experience. An all-encompassing role, you will need a diverse skill set including management, conflict resolution, planning and the ability to work harmoniously within a wider team.

As an influential communicator, you will build trust and rapport across all settings, building strong working relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieving labour targets as per KPI’s
  • Day to day management of contracts, commercially and operationally
  • View jobs to price, cost materials and create quotes through our computer system
  • Liaise with design engineers prior to and post completion of work
  • Communicate with customers to ensure programs and needs are met
  • Labour allocation to meet demand, setting and managing expectations for labour at an early stage; predicted shortfalls, increases, decreases.
  • Recruitment of scaffolders and apprentices – strategy, mentorship and training plans
  • Ensure that all scaffolders have been trained on tuubes (spot checks MD)
  • Check and authorise weekly wages through a computer-based system; ensuring correct plot numbers and work has been completed to required standards
  • Competent in TG20:21, SG4:15, SG4:22 & bespoke design
  • Monitor closely the activity, costs and performance of projects
  • Manage stock levels for each project and that sites are kept tidy ensuring that stock is fully utilised
  • Work closely with other Company Managers and Directors to ensure smooth running of the day to day business

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure handovers are done and signed by agent
  • Induction and scope – Scaffolders must be trained on tuubes
  • Perform weekly site inspections (Dusza Report)
  • Closing out all issues within time frame (Dusza Report)
  • Hold regular TBT/(TNA’s training needs analysis) and documentation is signed and forwarded to HR
  • Liaise with HR regarding document recording and strategy plans
  • Liaise with Jake Tyrrell, H&S to organise audits and strategy plans
  • RAMS
  • IOSH

Nasc

  • Standard of work i.e. H&S standards, handovers and inspections
  • Document recording
  • Ensuring you are up-to-date on all legislation; TG20 – SG4
  • Control NASC guidance
  • Management of team

Turnover

  • Service and standards; invoicing must be accurate
  • Programming
  • Labour and recruitment
  • Stock Management
  • Internal customers – Transport, Yard
  • Forecasting budget

  • Development/Direct contact
  • New ideas utilising data
  • Testing & feedback to make right
  • Training – how do Ops use it?

Essential Skills

  • Current UK driving licence
  • Have wide knowledge of different scaffold operations and design work
  • Previous experience in scaffold management an advantage
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Multi-tasking ability
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and Excel

Qualifications

  • Industry bases qualifications SSSTS/SMSTS
  • Advanced Scaffold Inspection Card
  • Advanced Scaffolder Card
  • Gold Supervisor

All or any combination of the above preferred but training will be provided where required.
