URTIM is providing scaffolding and formwork systems for the Ceyhan polypropylene production project in Adana, one of Türkiye’s largest private-sector industrial developments.
The company’s scope covers a range of structures across the PDH/PP facility, including reactor and heater units, high-rise columns, reinforced-concrete buildings, shear walls and areas with restricted access.
URTIM said its engineering team has designed the temporary works around the individual geometry, working height, loading and construction sequence of each structure.
The scaffolding package includes vertical and high-level access, heavy-duty applications, working platforms and access for pipeline installation.
Complex industrial build
The Ceyhan facility is being developed through a joint venture between Turkish group Rönesans Holding and Algerian energy company Sonatrach.

The plant will use propane dehydrogenation technology to produce propylene before converting it into polypropylene. It is designed for annual production of 472,500 tonnes.
Together with its associated terminal infrastructure, the development is valued at around $2bn.
Construction began in November 2024, with first production currently planned by the end of 2027.
The project is being delivered by EPC contractors Técnicas Reunidas and Rönesans, while Wood is providing project management consultancy services.
For URTIM, the work involves combining its formwork and scaffolding systems across structures where access requirements and loading conditions can change considerably between different parts of the plant.
Restricted spaces and high-level working areas have required individual system layouts rather than a single standard configuration across the site.
Formwork and access combined

URTIM said bringing its scaffolding and formwork engineering under the same technical team has allowed the systems to be planned around the wider construction sequence.
Its formwork applications include reactor and heater structures, multi-level columns, large shear walls, tanks and structures with more complex geometries.
Scaffolding is then being used to provide access and working platforms during construction and installation activities, including pipeline work.
Sergin Urfalilar, URTIM Deputy General Manager and Head of R&D and Engineering, has been involved in presenting the company’s systems and engineering approach to project teams.
The temporary works have been assessed against the project’s technical, safety, installation and operational requirements.
Founded in Türkiye in 1980, URTIM manufactures formwork and scaffolding systems for construction and industrial projects internationally.
The Ceyhan development adds another large petrochemical project to its industrial portfolio as construction continues towards planned production in 2027.
