TRAD UK is a leading national scaffolding and access company, with circa. 150 employees in depots, offices and sites across the country. Ambitious and hard-working, we are a family-style business that believes in investing in talent and developing skills.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, office-based Junior Buyer to offer support across multiple areas of the business. The successful candidate will provide TRAD UK with effective and efficient procurement that delivers best value for money (without sacrificing quality) and availability of stock to the business and our customers through innovation and continuous improvement, whilst providing a supply chain that is safe, robust, reliable and intelligent.

The main activities, although not exhaustive, include the following:

  • Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships, ensuring good communications.
  • Undertake supplier negotiations.
  • Placing of purchase orders with suppliers and managing them to ensure the goods/services are delivered in a timely manner to support our depot needs, communicating any supply problems that may pose a risk or impact to TRAD’s business operations.
  • Responsible for the ‘day to day’ management of the various procurement databases (ie. supplier files, delivery notes and supplier price lists) as well as participating in supplier selection/assessment and rating process.
  • Planning/preparing forward import orders based on forecasted depot requirements, benchmarked against historical period sales figures.
  • Preparing cost analysis reports on procurement process activities to allow the Procurement Manager to make informed decisions.
  • Assisting accounts in the posting of invoices and taking a leading role in the resolving of invoice/account discrepancies.
  • Review/Research opportunities in the market place to assist TRAD in increasing sales margins and turnover.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required.
  • To undertake occasional travel to TRAD sites and/or supplier visits within the UK/EU as required.

Ideally the successful candidate will also possess the following key skills/attributes and experience:

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a ‘close knit’ team, demonstrating the ability to both build/maintain good working relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to negotiate/influence and challenge strong personalities.
  • Good analytical skills with excellent planning/prioritising skills and a strong focus on attention to detail.
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Commercially/Financially aware.
  • Valid full UK Driving Licence.
  • Must be able to demonstrate that you have the right to work in the UK
