Description

Summary

Position requires thorough knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques, with a proven track record in Scaffolding.

Responsible for planning and conduct independent work requiring judgement in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil- or Structural-Engineering
  • Four years of experience with advance knowledge in civil and/or structural engineering, obtainable usually through education, training and experience.
  • Capable and experienced in managing and performing projects.
  • Prior work experience in the scaffolding industry
  • Good working knowledge of UK and/or Australian Scaffolding Standards
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks
  • Eligible to work in Australia
  • Scaffold design experience in 2D and 3D
  • Good English language skills

Desired

  • Training and/or prior work experience with CAPE /Altrad/Kaefer
  • Prior experience with Ring system scaffolding

 

  • Prior experience with MK 11 type Shoring, Propping, heavy duty support systems.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite.

 

Beneficial

 

  • Experience with Tube & Fitting scaffolding
  • Prior experience on large scale industrial / resources projects beneficial
  • Prior experience with Mast Climbing Work Platforms beneficial

 

Major Objectives & Essential Functions:

 

Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:

 

  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.
  • Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.
  • Prepare scaffolding related engineering plans, designs, and layouts.
  • Prepare scaffolding related engineering calculations.
  • Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Attend and participate in Client and Access Engineering Group meetings.
  • Provide drawings for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters.
  • May direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities.
  • Perform field activities such as observing and recording existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area.
  • Work in accordance with implemented ISO Quality Management System 9001:2008

 

Work Environmental & Physical Demands:

 

  • Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but may require travel to visit a Client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site.
  • Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.

  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

  • Driving record verification.
  • Eligible to work in Australia.
